Hi,
I am considering purchasing this model and wondered if anybody had any views. I have read mixed reports on both the tone and workmanship of the instrument. One photo showed how the pin heads had fractured the interior wood and I have also read reports of buzzing strings. Overall I think it is great looking Uke but looks can be deceptive. Am I been toocritical as Flight produce some real high quality instruments.
@apwhiteoak, I have a quilted maple ‘Oli tenor and I love it. I play it with low G string…beautiful.
By the time I hit the one year mark in my ukulele journey, I had 7 ukes. I now have 16; that’s my limit. (Or maybe not?) It is very easy to do, acquiring instruments. When you consider that there are three different sizes of ukuleles (4 counting sopraninos), various string combinations, plus baritones, you would naturally be curious to try them all. And resonator ukes and banjoleles. And travel ukes - the list goes on. In total, I would say that I have owned 20 ukuleles but I have either given away or sold 4 of them. It takes a while for you to figure out what you prefer to play. And by that I mean the type of wood used, the sound it produces, which size feels good in your hands, how fat or thin the neck is. All of those are important. Also important - some ukes are better for fingerstyle and others for strumming. It has taken me 20 ukuleles to figure out what I like and what plays best for me - a higher end tenor, no gloss, D shaped neck (C shape is too fat), koa, acacia or spruce, warm sound with great resonance and sustain. And I do like a cutaway for fingerstyle. But knowing what I like doesn’t mean I’m done looking; or that I won’t find myself purchasing another one in the near future. 😉 The thing is, as you figure out what you prefer, you can always sell or give away one of your old ones to make room. And really, as I tell myself, my addiction is not to alcohol or drugs. It’s harmless and brings happiness. I am feeding my soul and that can only be good, right?
Hope this isn’t overload…… I speak and feel from the heart……peace.

Oh my oh my! Such a shame. Flight Ukes always look so good. Been tempted many times to invest in a Flight but think I’ll look elsewhere. My last Uke was a Millar Tenor all solid Acacia from SUS. Beautiful tone so mellow, a sheer delight to play even though I have just been a year into learning the Uke. UAS was a mystery to me, thought it was the name of a new band like REM. My first Uke a Fender Venice Soprano I donated to a good friend whose grandson had expressed an interest in learning the Uke. However only twelve months into playing I now have three Ukes to my name. Latest one to tempt me is the Oli range. This is madness! Where does it end! The guitar and the piano never had this effect on me, one was enough. Can anyone out there please tell me why Ukes to borrow an old Frank Sinatra song title have got me under their skin. Everyday I’m accessing SUS or World of Ukes and adding to my wish list. Sense has to prevail! I am attempting to lay down a study plan, to focus solely on improving my playing technique, a bench mark if you like from which I can build. And yet……there is something about the Ukulele which is beyond defining. I think it is the simple and beautiful fact…the lovely endearing reality that this instrument brings people together in a solid community where everyone supports each other. Respect here to all other instruments and their dedicated students…but I know and have now discovered no other instrument….and I love it…that brings people together. Maybe it would do our world good if a few politicians were encouraged to take up the Uke. Maybe, just maybe the world would be a better and happier place. Long live the Uke!
Flight ukes are nice but when I used to sell them in the shop they always needed a good set up so I would only buy them from a store that will do that for you.
I just saw a post yesterday in another uke group about a Flight uke’s bridge popping off. Can’t remember the model, but the owner opened her case and discovered the problem. That’s the second time I've seen a post about a Flight uke’s bridge coming unglued. This is weird as they have (had?) a good reputation.
