In the Baritone course Matt gives the usual tunings used on the Baritone. High D ,Low d and the same pairings with gCEA and GCEA.
On guitar players often use one of the drop D tunings
DGBD seems to lend itself to the Baritone Uke
How many [players take advantage of these alternatives

Anyone try Mandolin Tuning? I've been interested in trying to learn the Mandolin but before investing in a proper Mandolin, I've been experimenting with my version of a 'Ukeolin' or Mandolele!
Basically, I've fitted a set of Aquila Nylgut AQ-30strings, Tuned in 5ths, GDAE (= Mando tuning) on an cheap Kmise concert uke. (Note: The strings are listed as being Soprano size but they were big enough to fit on a Concert uke). Despite having only 4 versus 8 stings, it yields a very good Mandolin sound which sounds great and distinctive amidst a group of Ukes. The extra space between frets relative to a Mandolin, suit my big fingers and gives me more space to learn and execute some basic Mandolin chord shapes. Plus the strings are easier on the fingers.
Definitely a worthwhile experiment that gives an alternative sound especially on Americana or country style tunes👍
I think I heard Matt mention somewhere that he was learning the Mandolin - I'm hoping he might do a few Mando/Ukeolin lessons some time in the future to complement his wonderful Uke tutorials😉
